Bylaws

Postby Rubiconlwb on Thu Aug 30, 2007 12:38 pm

I received the rough draft of the bylaws a couple days ago and finally got them entered on the website last night. To go check them out, either go to the main page and click on the 'ByLaws' button or click the link below. Let us know what you think. I'm not sure if they can be changed at this point in time but you might ask one of the officers if there is a problem with them that would keep them from being the final, approved bylaws. I read through them and thought they were very well done and addressed any points or areas that I could think of.

Typo:

Section 3: President

The President shall act as the principal executive officer of the organization. The President shall preside over meetings and settle tie votes. The President shall sigh contracts and agreements on behalf of the organization under the rules and direction of the executive committee, membership votes and bylaws.

Answering your question, Kim.

Section 1: Election Of Officers

Election of officers will be held at the annual meeting. The newly elected officers will assume their duties effective January 1 of the following year.

Kim,
We held the officer election for this year at the Brown Bag. The Brown Bag, as decided by all, was our first "State" meeting. Officers elected at that time were Ellis as President, Rex as VP and myself as Sec/Treas. According to the by-laws, we would be assuming office as of January 2008. We are in discussion as to where to have the annual WAG "convention". It is my opinion that we should have it in a different spot each year (e.g. Green River, Lusk, Douglas, Gillette, Basin...and so forth) but at the same time of year. Let each caching "group" share the wealth. When we meet for this yearly "convention" sometime this summer, then we will have another officer election, and then those NEW officers will assume their duties in 2009. If you have any questions call, email or post here.

As Michelle said, voting took place at the Brownbag and officers were elected then. There is a special situation this year since this organiztion has just started. The officers that were elected at that time took over their duties immediately since there were none at the time. In future years when we vote in the summer, there will be officers in place at the time who will serve until the end of December. The newly elected officers will then take over the first of January. So the officers we have now (great ones I might add) will be in office until December of 2008. We will elect officers next summer who will take over at that time. This is what my understanding of the way things will play out in the near future, if I am wrong please straighten me out.

Officers & Bylaws

Postby OldWyo on Wed Dec 05, 2007 10:04 pm

Very good description of the circumstances Lee.

All groups have to start somewhere/sometime. Since we became loosely organized by being elected officers in June at the Brown Bag, we have written bylaws, investigated what it takes to become a tax free entity, are developing member resistrations and are in the process of making sure that all the items that need attention are taken care of so that this orgainzation can be ran as easily as posssible in the future.

This is time consuming and takes patience to get things done. Since we (the officers) have eighteen months to work on things it gives us the needed time to finish what we have been entrusted to do.

We thank each and everyone of you for your support and understanding in our endeavors. If we make mistakes along the way, please let us know and we'll rectify whatever we can. As you can imagine, we are on a learning curve but we are getting our list of to-do items done.
